ADC Confirms High Efficiency of Fouka 1 Desalination

The Algerian Desalination Company (ADC), a subsidiary of the Sonatrach group, has issued a communiqué reaffirming the high operational efficiency of its Fouka 1 seawater desalination plant. The company stated that the plant continues to operate at its usual capacity, a finding that also applies to all installations under its responsibility, which are described as efficient, available, and productive. This clarification comes in response to circulating inquiries regarding the status of its units, with ADC asserting that no structural failures impact its production chain and that its facilities are consistently fulfilling their mission of producing desalinated water.
ADC acknowledged the occurrence of occasional, very marginal production decreases, both in terms of volume and duration, with none exceeding 24 hours. These sequences are attributed to scheduled, pre-planned maintenance operations, which are coordinated in advance with the distribution companies. This meticulous scheduling aims to ensure the regularity of water supply to consumers while teams carry out necessary equipment work, thereby preserving service continuity.
The company emphasized its robust performance during the hot season, stating that its units did not cause any disruptions in potable water supply, even as demand reached its peak. ADC attributes this success to thorough preparation and proactive measures implemented well before the onset of peak consumption periods, involving a comprehensive mobilization of human resources, technological tools, and scientific methods. Desalination has become a crucial component of Algeria's water management strategy, especially in a country experiencing irregular rainfall and facing pressure on its dam reserves, underscoring ADC's commitment to guaranteeing national water security and maintaining this vital public service.
