National Security Forces Seize 61 kg of Kif, Arrest Nine

Algerian National Security forces have successfully confiscated 61 kilograms of processed kif and apprehended nine individuals in two distinct operations aimed at combating illicit drug trafficking. These actions, detailed in a recent statement from the General Directorate of National Security, target criminal networks involved in the distribution of narcotics, with the seized kif identified as originating from Morocco.
One of the operations, led by the anti-drug trafficking and psychotropic substances brigade of the Chlef provincial judicial police, resulted in the dismantling of an organized criminal network whose activities extended into Morocco. This particular intervention led to the arrest of eight network members and the seizure of 50 kilograms of processed kif. Additionally, significant amounts of national and foreign currency, believed to be proceeds from criminal activities, were confiscated, and three tourist vehicles used in the illicit trade were recovered.
The second operation was carried out by elements of the Tlemcen regional anti-drug trafficking service. This effort led to the apprehension of one individual found in possession of 11 kilograms of processed kif. Following these successful interventions, all nine suspects have been presented before the public prosecutors at the Ténès and Bab El Assa courts for further legal proceedings.
