Sifi Ghareeb Leads Delegation to Italy for Mediterranean Games

Premier Minister Sifi Ghareeb arrived in Taranto, southern Italy, on Friday to represent President Abdelmadjid Tebboune at the opening ceremony of the 20th Mediterranean Games. This significant regional sports event is being held in Taranto from August 21 to September 3.

Upon his arrival at Taranto-Grottaglie airport, Premier Minister Ghareeb was welcomed by Algeria's Ambassador to Italy, Mohamed Khelifi. He is accompanied on this visit by Sports Minister Walid Sadi. This high-level participation, according to a statement from the Premier Minister's services, underscores Algeria's dedication to enhancing its athletic and diplomatic presence at various regional and international gatherings, while also working to strengthen cooperation and friendship with countries and peoples in the Mediterranean region.

Algeria is demonstrating a robust presence at the Games with a delegation comprising 248 male and female athletes. These athletes are set to compete across 27 different disciplines, showcasing the nation's sporting capabilities. The 20th Mediterranean Games bring together 26 National Olympic Committees, fostering competition and camaraderie among nations.
