Saïdal Relaunches HUP Pharma Plant for Drug Production

Saïdal group has commenced the progressive relaunch of drug production at the former HUP Pharma factory in Constantine. This initiative follows the site's placement under public control in 2024, after its facilities had been temporarily halted since 2023 due to non-compliance with certain standards. The restart is considered a strategic step within Algeria's program for modernizing and specializing national pharmaceutical production, with the goal of reinforcing health sovereignty.

The relaunch aims to strengthen national production capacities and guarantee a consistent supply to the market. The reorganization of the Constantine site, which features three production lines for human medicine, will also involve the reintegration of several former employees, recognizing and valuing their experience. This effort, driven by Saïdal's operational expertise, is expected to increase the public group's overall capacity to meet national market demands.

As part of a wider development strategy, the restart of the Constantine facilities will facilitate the transfer of production for certain pharmaceutical products from Saïdal's Medea unit. This measure is intended to maintain a steady production rhythm and ensure the ongoing availability of essential medicines across the national market. The progressive reintegration of workers will be based on operational needs, further leveraging local skills at the site, which was originally established in 2002.
