Air Traffic Between France and Algeria Up 30.3% Since 2019

Air traffic between France and Algeria demonstrated significant growth in summer, with over 1.1 million passengers recorded in June and July alone. These figures, released by the French Ministry of Transport on August 25, underscore Algeria's standing among the most frequently served destinations from French airports, highlighting its consistent progress in passenger volume.

From January to July 2026, the total number of travelers between France and Algeria saw a substantial 30.3% increase compared to 2019, predating the global health crisis. This strong rebound positions Algeria favorably when compared to regional peers, with 3.3 million passengers from France to Algeria during this period, exceeding traffic to other key regional destinations like Tunisia, which recorded 2.7 million passengers. Algeria also outpaced several other international destinations, including Brazil, Canada, China, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates, in passenger numbers from France.

The consistent high volume of passengers between France and Algeria is primarily attributed to the significant Algerian community residing in France. Their frequent travel to their country of origin, particularly during the summer holiday season, plays a crucial role in maintaining and boosting these robust bilateral air links.
