Mediterranean Games: Algeria Adds Three Bronze, Five Boxers Reach Semis

Algeria's delegation at the Mediterranean Games 2026 in Tarente, Italy, achieved a successful day, securing three new bronze medals and qualifying five boxers for the semi-finals. These recent successes build upon the country's performance at the international multi-sport event, highlighting the achievements of Algerian athletes.
The three bronze medals were earned in women's wrestling and Raffa. In women's wrestling, Ibtissem Doudou in the -50 kg category and Chaima Chebbila in the -53 kg category each secured a bronze. Additionally, Nour El-Houda Maïdi contributed a bronze medal to Algeria's tally in the individual women's Raffa event, marking Algeria's sole medal in this sport at the Games so far.
Further advancing Algeria's standing, five pugilists successfully qualified for the boxing competition's semi-finals. These athletes include Fatiha Mansouri (-51 kg), Jawhara Benaan (-65 kg), Amine Zenaz (-55 kg), Ismail Bakhsis (-65 kg), and Mostefa Abdou (-80 kg). Following these results, Algeria's overall medal count at the Mediterranean Games 2026 has reached 10 medals, comprising one gold, one silver, and eight bronze.
