New Buses Enhance Urban Mobility Across Algerian Wilayas

Algeria's national program for modernizing public transport, initiated by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, is moving forward with the recent reception of 200 new buses. This broader initiative aims to introduce 10,000 new buses nationwide, designed to rejuvenate the country's passenger transport fleet and enhance urban and suburban mobility.

The newly acquired vehicles are intended to bolster network coverage, alleviate congestion on high-demand routes, and elevate the overall travel experience for commuters. Significant progress is particularly visible in Oran, where urban and suburban transport has seen notable evolution through the continuous integration of new bus fleets. Specific sectors within Oran, including Misserghine, Oued Tlélat, Belgaïd, Arzew, Boutlélis, and Aïn El-Turck, are among those benefiting from this reinforcement. The capital, Algiers, has also received new vehicles for its Étusa network, complemented by the opening or planning of new lines to better serve densely populated areas.

Beyond merely replacing older vehicles, the program seeks to adapt the transport network to the dynamic urban growth of cities and their peripheries, accommodating expanding residential zones and new activity hubs. The new buses promise superior comfort compared to many older models and some feature modern amenities, such as video surveillance and facilities for individuals with special needs. This modernization effort also encompasses a broader commitment to improving service quality, aiming for reduced waiting times, enhanced regularity of rotations, increased line options, and safer, more comfortable journeys for all users.
