Russia, Algeria Develop Mid-Term Geology Cooperation Roadmap

Algeria and Russia are collaborating on a comprehensive mid-term roadmap aimed at strengthening cooperation in geology and the use of subsoil resources. This development was announced by Russian Natural Resources Minister Alexander Kozlov, who stated that an integrated roadmap for geology and mineral resource exploitation was agreed upon during a joint working group meeting in late June.

The scope of this cooperation includes the exploration and development of Algeria's mineral resource base, alongside the initiation of joint educational programs. These programs are designed to train and qualify Algerian specialists and cadres in earth sciences. Minister Kozlov highlighted Algeria's rich endowment of mineral resources, including uranium, copper, and manganese, noting that Russian companies offer a wide range of advanced geological services, from regional surveys to precise reserve assessments in specific deposits.

This cooperative effort follows earlier discussions between Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow in mid-June. During that visit, both parties signed a joint declaration outlining areas of bilateral cooperation, in addition to a package of documents aimed at bolstering their strategic partnership. President Putin affirmed that these agreements would inaugurate a new, more advanced phase in the relations between the two nations.
