President Tebboune Arrives in Ankara for Historic State Visit, Algeria-Turkey Strategic Council to Launch

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune touched down at Esenboğa International Airport in Ankara on Monday evening, welcomed in an official ceremony by his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, marking the start of a landmark three-day state visit.

The visit, exclusively reported by dzwatch, signals a decisive shift in Algeria-Turkey relations — moving beyond diplomatic declarations toward concrete institutional frameworks. At the heart of the visit is the inaugural session of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council between the two nations.

Senior officials told dzwatch that the summit will see the signing of a comprehensive package of bilateral agreements designed to strengthen the legal and contractual foundations of the partnership — effectively superseding the 2006 Friendship and Cooperation Treaty with a broader, more binding framework.

The two countries are charting a new course built on strategic depth, economic integration, and mutual political alignment, positioning Algeria as a pivotal Mediterranean and African power in its own right.
