National Campaign Enhances Summer Road Safety Across Wilayas

A national campaign for the prevention of road accidents is currently being implemented across all Algerian wilayas during the Summer 2026 season. This extensive initiative is a direct result of directives issued by the Minister of Interior, Local Communities, and Transport, Said Saayoud, with the overarching goal of reinforcing road safety and intensifying public awareness regarding traffic regulations. The campaign mobilizes various public services and stakeholders to enhance preventive measures and field presence.

The campaign sees broad participation from key entities, including the National Security services, the National Gendarmerie, and Civil Protection. These bodies, alongside other relevant actors in road safety, are actively engaged in comprehensive awareness operations. Their efforts are particularly focused on educating drivers, families, vacationers, and children about critical traffic rules, such as adherence to legal speed limits, avoiding dangerous maneuvers and overtakes, refraining from mobile phone use while driving, and recognizing the hazards of fatigue and exhaustion during travel.

In parallel with on-the-ground activities, the campaign extends its reach through various media channels, including television and radio. These platforms are utilized to disseminate crucial information about the provisions of the new traffic law, explaining the rules and measures that road users must respect. This coordinated national effort reflects a commitment to fostering a strong culture of road safety, curbing dangerous behaviors, and ultimately contributing to a significant reduction in road accidents during the summer period, which typically experiences a notable increase in road traffic.
