Sonelgaz Connects Rural Oran Households to Energy Grids

Sonelgaz's Senia Distribution Directorate has advanced a national program to extend energy networks to rural and semi-rural areas within the Oran wilaya. These projects are designed to enhance access to essential services, thereby supporting daily life and local economic development for communities in these regions. The inaugurated works span several localities within the commune, delivering tangible benefits to numerous families.

Specific implementations include Aïn El Kerma, where a 332-meter pipeline now provides natural gas to 50 rural households, accounting for 49 new subscribers. In the Hamani Miloud neighborhood of Aïn Tassa, 24 families have gained access to natural gas through the installation of a 1.65-kilometer conduit. Additionally, the Barakat Slimane neighborhood in Sidi Bakhti received a 750-meter pipeline, benefiting 40 households. Concurrently, within the same Sidi Bakhti sector, a 1.145-kilometer electrical network was deployed, connecting 35 additional households to stable and reliable lighting.

Beyond the quantitative achievements, these projects carry significant human impact. They effectively end the energy isolation of these families, providing access to safer heating, hot water, improved lighting, and household appliances that enhance comfort and save time, particularly for women. This comprehensive uplift in living conditions addresses long-standing needs in these zones. Sonelgaz's Senia Distribution Directorate has affirmed its ongoing commitment to these efforts, working in coordination with public authorities to expand electricity and natural gas networks and elevate the quality of public service.

These initiatives are part of a broader national effort to enhance energy coverage, with natural gas already reaching 72% of the population via a distribution network spanning over 24,599 kilometers. The continuous execution of such projects is fundamental to reducing territorial disparities and ensuring that all citizens, regardless of their location, have equitable access to opportunities. By commissioning these infrastructures, the state signals its strong resolve to tangibly transform daily life for residents, leveraging energy as a key driver of equality and progress.
