He received traditional religious instruction at the Tijani Zaouia in Tamacine, mentored by his father, the revered scholar Sharif Sidi Mohamed El Bachir. Simultaneously, he pursued formal education, culminating in a doctorate in solid-state physics from the University of Paris. His career further demonstrated his unique intellectual breadth, encompassing scholarship, teaching, university research, and various administrative and pedagogical roles at the University of Constantine. He stood as an exemplar of a scholar who perceived no conflict between embracing authenticity and modernity, nor between the sciences of Sharia and cosmic sciences.
In 1420 AH, Dr. Sidi Mohamed El Aid Tidjani assumed the leadership of Tamacine Zaouia, succeeding his father as the ninth successor after Sidi Ali Al-Tamassini. He faithfully upheld its scientific, educational, and spiritual mission. Throughout his distinguished career, he actively contributed to reform, fostering unity, promoting reconciliation, offering counsel, calming tensions, and bringing people together. President Tebboune emphasized that the departure of such a figure represents a loss not merely for a family or a zaouia, but for a vital part of Algeria's scientific, national, and spiritual memory.
