KANAN Algérie Seals 100,000-Ton Export Agreement with Mauritania

The Algerian Maritime Transport Company, KANAN Algérie, has finalized a cooperation agreement with the Mauritanian General Services Company. This agreement involves the transport of 100,000 tons of Algerian construction materials to Mauritania and neighboring African countries, a move designed to bolster national exports and strengthen maritime links between Algeria and broader African markets.
This initiative aligns with directives from the Minister of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport, which aim to develop maritime transport and enhance its role in supporting external trade. The focus is specifically on establishing and reinforcing maritime routes to African markets. The accord seeks to ensure consistent and sustainable operations for the Algerian-Mauritanian maritime line, facilitating cargo transportation and promoting smoother commercial exchanges.
Beyond construction materials, the cooperation will, in its initial phase, extend to the export of Algerian food products. This expansion will utilize refrigerated containers to ensure suitable conditions for sensitive goods, promoting national products and opening new prospects for Algerian economic operators. The agreement further supports Algerian exports beyond the hydrocarbons sector and establishes new market access for national products across Africa.
This strategic step underscores a broader effort to expand the commercial role of Algeria's national maritime carrier. It is intended to transform the Algerian-Mauritanian maritime line into a pivotal logistical platform for Algerian exports directed towards Mauritania and neighboring West African markets. The agreement is expected to provide significant momentum to the maritime route, ensuring regular goods movement, supporting economic entities, and enhancing the competitiveness of Algerian products, thereby aligning with Algeria's goals to diversify its exports and expand its economic presence throughout the African continent.
