China Baowu Group Explores Algerian Energy, Steel Partnerships

Algerian Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Mourad Adjal, recently received a delegation from the prominent Chinese steel group, China Baowu Group, in Algiers. The meeting focused on exploring potential investment partnerships within Algeria, a move that aligns with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune's directives to enhance external cooperation, broaden partnership prospects, and foster investment to integrate the energy sector more deeply into international markets and contribute to the nation's economic development objectives.

During the discussions, Minister Adjal underscored the historical and strategic relationship between Algeria and China, emphasizing its role as a robust foundation for a strong economic partnership. He reiterated the energy and renewable energies sector's unwavering commitment to supporting and strengthening this cooperation, particularly through facilitating Chinese investments in Algeria, including the project proposed by the Baowu Group. Adjal assured the delegation that the sector's services, notably the Sonelgaz group, are prepared to support the project by assessing its energy requirements and ensuring optimal conditions for its implementation.

The Chinese delegation, in turn, acknowledged the Algerian government's clear intent to bolster cooperation and partnership between the two nations. They highlighted Algeria's stable business climate as an encouraging factor for investment. The group expressed its desire for the Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energies' assistance, especially regarding the provision of energy needs pertinent to their proposed investment project in Algeria.
