Youth Minister Calls for Ancestral National Path

Mustapha Hidaoui, the Minister of Youth responsible for the High Council for Youth, urged Algerian youth to emulate their ancestors, the Mujahideen and martyrs, in their love for the homeland, contributing to its construction, and preserving its achievements. Speaking at the International Youth Center in Sidi Fredj, Algiers, during the commemoration of National Mujahid Day—which marks the dual anniversary of the North Constantine attacks and the Soummam Congress (August 20, 1955-1956)—Hidaoui lauded the youth's national spirit and their commitment to the struggle of their forefathers, which he noted fuels their passion and ambition for future progress.
The Minister emphasized the youth sector's dedication to reinforcing national values, safeguarding national memory, and linking successive generations to Algeria's glorious history. This commitment is fulfilled through commemorating significant national events related to the blessed liberation revolution. As part of this effort, interactive historical and educational sessions are organized in coordination with "youth memory ambassadors" from the High Council for Youth across summer camps in 14 coastal provinces. These sessions provide an open forum for children to meet Mujahideen, engage in dialogue, and hear firsthand accounts of the liberation struggle, thereby solidifying national memory and instilling a sense of responsibility in the younger generation to protect it and draw inspiration for Algeria's present and future.
Ammar Boumezrag, Secretary-General of the National Organization of Mujahideen, highlighted National Mujahid Day as an occasion to recall the heroism of the Algerian people, who sacrificed greatly for national sovereignty. Mohamed Abad, head of the Torch of the Martyr Association, stressed the importance of involving children and youth in national commemorations to foster communication between the revolution generation and current generations. This national initiative, organized in partnership with the Ministry and the High Council for Youth, and with contributions from the "Torch of the Martyr" Association, involved Mujahideen from the liberation revolution alongside children from various holiday centers and the Algerian diaspora, honoring several Mujahideen as part of its mission to instill national memory in rising generations.
