Arab, Islamic Nations Condemn Israeli Airstrikes on Syria

Algeria, alongside 11 other Arab and Islamic nations, issued a joint statement strongly condemning Israeli airstrikes that targeted the Abu al-Duhur military base in northwestern Syria. The ministers characterized these attacks as an extremely dangerous escalation and a gross violation of the Syrian Arab Republic's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political unity.

The joint statement conveyed the ministers' deep concern regarding the continuous targeting of Syrian territory and infrastructure. They emphasized that such actions directly threaten efforts aimed at restoring security within Syria, rebuilding national institutions, and addressing the humanitarian consequences stemming from years of conflict. Furthermore, the ministers warned that the continuation of these violations undermines regional peace and stability while demonstrating disregard for the principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter.

In response, the participating nations called upon the international community to adopt a firm, clear, and principled stance against the ongoing aggression on Syria. They urged for concrete measures, in accordance with international law and the UN Charter, to halt these violations. The statement also demanded full compliance with the 1974 Agreement on Disengagement of Forces and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from occupied territories, reaffirming the urgent necessity to respect Syria's independence, territorial integrity, and political unity, and rejecting any attempts to undermine them.
