AU Technical Meeting on African Court Statute Held in Algiers

The African Union convened a technical meeting in Algiers from August 17 to 21, 2026, dedicated to reviewing proposed amendments to the Statute of the African Court. This significant continental gathering aimed to discuss modifications essential for the judicial body's adaptation.
The proposed amendments are part of a broader initiative to align the African Court with the evolving dynamics of the continental organization over recent decades. A core objective of this project is to enhance mechanisms for justice and legal protection across the institutions of the African Union, ensuring they remain robust and responsive to contemporary needs.
Algeria's selection as the host for this important meeting reflects the trust placed in the nation within African Union institutions. Furthermore, it underscores the suitable conditions and comprehensive facilities provided by the Algerian state, through various ministries and relevant bodies, to ensure the successful execution of such crucial continental events.
