Security Forces Seize Massive Drug Haul, 50 Suspects Arrested

Algerian security agencies have successfully dismantled a dangerous international drug trafficking network operating across several countries, delivering a significant blow to organized crime in the region. This swift security operation resulted in the seizure of over 10 million capsules of the psychotropic drug 'Pregabalin,' commonly known as 'El Saroukh,' alongside more than 33 kilograms of pure cocaine.
The operation uncovered sophisticated and unprecedented concealment methods employed by the criminal network. Investigations revealed that large quantities of illicit substances were hidden in secret compartments within reinforced cement transport trucks, specifically in the tank's cavities, where over a million tablets were discovered in one instance. Further attempts at deception included stashing drugs in rubber tires, vegetable transport vehicles, and cargo trucks across five major wilayas of the country.
Authorities have arrested 50 suspects in connection with the network. Twenty-five individuals were immediately referred to the judiciary, placed in pre-trial detention, and charged with serious smuggling offenses, undermining national security, and money laundering. Security coordination remains active as Algerian forces continue their efforts to apprehend an additional 25 fugitives, whose nationalities include Moroccan, Dutch, and Algerian, in a sustained effort to paralyze international smuggling activities.
