Italian Leadership Receives Algerian Prime Minister, Deepening Ties

Algerian Prime Minister Seifi Gharib, representing President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, participated in the official opening ceremony of the 20th Mediterranean Games in Taranto, Italy. During his visit, the Prime Minister was formally received by Italian President Sergio Mattarella and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. This reception, which also included other heads of participating delegations, underscored the diplomatic significance of the event for Algeria.
At the reception, Prime Minister Gharib conveyed greetings and appreciation from President Tebboune to both Italian leaders, acknowledging Italy's thorough preparations for the Mediterranean Games. In return, President Mattarella and Prime Minister Meloni extended their greetings to President Tebboune, emphasizing the deep friendship shared between Algeria and Italy. Discussions during the encounter highlighted a mutual satisfaction with the advanced level of Algerian-Italian relations across various sectors, reaffirming the shared commitment by the leaderships of both nations to further strengthen their bilateral strategic partnership and expand cooperation horizons in areas serving their mutual interests.
The Prime Minister's presence at the Games also served to actively support the Algerian national sports delegation. Notably, Seifi Gharib was the sole official government representative to personally greet the Algerian athletes on the field. He later met with the athletes and sportswomen representing Algeria, conveying President Tebboune's wishes for success and urging them to perform their best. Algeria is participating in the Games with a delegation of 248 athletes competing in 27 sports disciplines, aiming to achieve distinguished results and enhance the national medal count. Prime Minister Gharib has since departed Italy, returning to Algeria after concluding his participation in the official opening ceremony.
