Malian President Goïta to Visit Algeria for Regional Stability Talks

Malian Prime Minister Abdoulaye Maïga concluded a working visit to Algeria, where he was received by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. During his visit, Prime Minister Maïga announced that Malian transitional President General Assimi Goïta will undertake an official visit to Algeria in the near future. This confirmation follows a formal invitation extended by President Tebboune, with the exact dates to be finalized through diplomatic channels.

President Goïta conveyed his acceptance of the invitation through a written message delivered by Prime Minister Maïga, perceiving it as a "mark of affection and esteem" for himself and the Malian people. Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening deep-rooted bilateral relations and historical ties. Discussions between President Tebboune and Prime Minister Maïga underscored a shared vision for encouraging security and stability across the Sahel region.

The two countries are united by a conviction to establish the Sahel as an oasis of peace, free from terrorism, hegemony, and all forms of neo-colonialism. Prime Minister Maïga emphasized the imperative for Algeria and Mali to collaborate closely, highlighting President Tebboune's words on the unchangeable geographical reality between the two nations. This dynamic builds on previous consultations, including an earlier exchange between Prime Minister Maïga and his Algerian counterpart, Sifi Ghrieb, aiming to advance development, stability, and progress for both peoples.
