Additional Hajj Quotas Benefit Senior Citizens Aged Over 70

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has announced the allocation of 2,000 additional Hajj quotas for the upcoming 1448h/2027 pilgrimage season. This significant decision, communicated by the Ministry of Interior, Local Collectivities and Transport, aims to support elderly citizens who have faced repeated unsuccessful attempts to secure a place for the sacred journey.

The newly designated quotas are specifically reserved for citizens aged 70 years and older who have participated in the Hajj lottery ten times without being selected. This measure underscores a commitment to providing an enhanced opportunity for this particular demographic to fulfill their religious obligation, reflecting the President's concern for their long-held aspirations to perform the Hajj rites.

A special lottery will be conducted on Saturday, August 29, 2026, to determine the beneficiaries of these additional places. The draws are scheduled to take place at wilaya headquarters or other designated suitable locations, with the presence of the concerned citizens or their representatives. The Ministry emphasized that eligibility for this specific lottery is strictly limited to individuals who meet both the age requirement and the minimum number of previous unsuccessful registrations for the Hajj. Any registered individual not fulfilling these two conditions will not be considered for this special allocation.
