77,000 Illegal Fireworks Seized, Two Arrested in El Tarf

Police services in El Tarf successfully thwarted a significant smuggling operation, seizing a substantial quantity of illegal firecrackers and fireworks. The mobile judicial police squad in Echatt specifically confiscated 77,068 units of various types of these prohibited materials. This operation led to the apprehension of two individuals suspected of involvement in the possession and illicit transport of these items for unlawful distribution.
The intervention was initiated following intelligence received by security services regarding two individuals transporting a large quantity of firecrackers and fireworks in a tourist vehicle. Specialized teams immediately launched intensive investigations, overseen by the Public Prosecutor at El Dhraâ Court. These efforts culminated in the identification and arrest of the suspects, followed by a search of their vehicle which revealed the extensive stash of firecrackers and fireworks, classified as sensitive and dangerous goods.
In addition to the illicit materials, the tourist vehicle used in the criminal activity was also seized. The arrested individuals have been presented before the Public Prosecutor at El Dhraâ Court on charges related to possessing prohibited and sensitive goods within the customs zone without proper documentation, intended for smuggling using a transport vehicle. This successful operation is part of ongoing security initiatives aimed at combating the trade of firecrackers and fireworks, particularly as celebratory occasions approach, to mitigate the risks these materials pose to the safety and well-being of citizens.
