Jijel Wildfire Areas Now Stable, Reforestation Decision Irrevocable

Prime Minister Seifi Ghrib announced that the situation in Jijel province is now stable, following a field visit to assess the damage caused by recent wildfires. The Prime Minister confirmed that improved weather conditions and reduced strong winds, which had previously hampered efforts, enabled firefighting aircraft to effectively intervene and bring the blazes under control.

During his visit, Ghrib conveyed condolences on behalf of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to the families of victims across several affected provinces, including Jijel, Skikda, Bejaia, and Tizi Ouzou. He reaffirmed the state's unwavering commitment to recovery and announced an irrevocable decision to reforest all mountainous areas damaged by the fires, pledging that these regions will be restored to their previous green state.

The Prime Minister also lauded the significant efforts and solidarity demonstrated by various entities and individuals during this period. He extended appreciation to the Civil Protection, the Algerian People's National Army, security services, local authorities, civil society organizations, and all citizens who contributed to the relief and support operations for the affected families. This collective response highlights the spirit of unity and determination in overcoming the challenges presented by the wildfires.
