Sonatrach, Sinopec Expand Energy Cooperation Scope in Beijing

Algeria's Sonatrach Group and Chinese company Sinopec have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in Beijing, aiming to broaden their cooperation across various energy sectors. The agreement was formalized during a visit by Sonatrach's CEO, Noureddine Daoudi, accompanied by a high-level delegation to China.

The newly signed protocol outlines a wide range of collaborative opportunities, including projects related to traditional and non-traditional hydrocarbons, the development of complex reservoirs, and the petrochemical and helium industries. Furthermore, the cooperation extends to petroleum engineering, renewable energies, associated new technologies, and the crucial area of skills development, underscoring a comprehensive approach to energy partnership.

This MOU serves as a continuation of efforts initiated under a previous memorandum signed by Sonatrach and Sinopec in 2024. That earlier agreement successfully identified mutually beneficial opportunities and led to the implementation of concrete operations. The current protocol is designed to further strengthen the existing relationship between the two companies and expand the scope of their collaboration, actively seeking new partnership avenues across all stages of the hydrocarbon value chain.
