Algiers – The Sahrawi Ambassador to Algeria, Abdulkader Taleb Omar, strongly condemned the French government’s decision to recognize the so-called Moroccan autonomy plan over Western Sahara, which he deemed as violating international law.

In an exclusive interview with Sabq Press, Taleb Omar expressed outrage, emphasizing that France, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, is disregarding international law with its blatant stance.

The Sahrawi ambassador stressed that the French position lacks international legitimacy, reiterating that the issue of Western Sahara is a decolonization matter, recognized as such by international law and registered at the United Nations.

He further argued that France’s position reflects the colonial intentions of the Moroccan regime, Zionists, and other powers that seek to escalate tensions in the region, fueling instability and undermining peace efforts while violating human rights.

Taleb Omar pointed out that France’s scandalous stance is not new, as the country has long supported Moroccan occupation with increasingly dangerous positions over the years.

The ambassador also praised Algeria’s unwavering position in defending the Sahrawi cause, expressing full confidence in Algeria’s pivotal role in upholding international law, supporting UN decolonization resolutions, and safeguarding the principles of freedom, democracy, equality, and peace.
