According to KCNA, the two sides had “a friendly exchange,” in which Shoigu handed over a letter from Russian President Vladimir Putin to President Kim. For his part, Kim thanked the Russian leader for sending a military delegation led by Shoigu to Pyongyang, and said the meeting had deepened “the strategic and traditional relations” between North Korea and Russia. Last week, the Russian delegation and a Chinese delegation led by Politburo member Li Hongzhong arrived in Pyongyang to attend the 70th anniversary of the signing of the armistice agreement in the Korean War (1950-1953), which took place on July 27.
