Minister of Post and Telecommunications Sid Ali Zerrouki today chaired a high-level meeting to oversee the accelerated modernization of Algeria’s national communications infrastructure, marking a decisive step toward next-generation connectivity.
The minister reviewed progress on the ongoing transition from copper networks to fiber optic infrastructure across multiple wilayas, with a firm deadline set for early 2027.
In an exclusive presentation to dzwatch, Algérie Télécom CEO Abdelghani Aït Saïd unveiled a landmark project to upgrade the existing 4G LTE network to 5G LTE for fixed internet services. Minister Zerrouki immediately issued directives to ensure the network goes live no later than early 2027.
According to the ministry, this project will represent a qualitative leap in fixed internet services, delivering faster speeds, reduced latency, and stronger connectivity — meeting the growing technological demands of Algerians nationwide.
