Algeria’s Independent Authority for Audiovisual Regulation has issued a stern directive to all audiovisual media institutions, ordering them to actively contribute to the smooth running of the Middle School and High School certificate examinations — a critical national milestone.
In an exclusive statement to dzwatch, the Authority confirmed it had monitored a series of unjustified violations by certain outlets during its review of previous media coverage, despite repeated prior warnings. Most notably, some channels conducted direct on-air interviews with students immediately upon their exit from examination centers — a practice deemed a serious breach of legal and regulatory frameworks governing media operations.
The Authority specifically cited Executive Decree No. 24-250 of 2024, which sets the general conditions for audiovisual communication services, alongside Law No. 12-15 on child protection.
Officials told dzwatch that safeguarding children’s rights, dignity, and psychological well-being represents an absolute legal and ethical obligation that permits zero tolerance for violations — particularly during sensitive field coverage involving minors.
