Agriculture Minister Yassine Walid officially launched the 2025-2026 grain harvest campaign from the heart of Timimoun, at the Satah Aqrout agricultural perimeter, where he witnessed remarkable results achieved by Algerian farmers and investors — the majority of them young people — despite climatic challenges and remote distances.
‘What we witnessed on the ground confirms that Algeria is capable of winning the food sovereignty bet,’ Walid told dzwatch, highlighting yields surpassing 80 quintals per hectare, driven by modern technology and sound technical practices.
This season recorded a 46% increase in grain-cultivated areas in Timimoun compared to last year, prompting the deployment of additional logistical capacity, with Agrodrive mobilizing modern harvesting machinery to ensure a successful season.
The Minister also highlighted progress on the BF Algeria project, an Algerian-Italian partnership representing a model of productive investment and expertise transfer in strategic crops.
‘Algeria’s agricultural future is built in the field — and the South has become an essential part of the national food security equation,’ he affirmed.
