President Abdelmadjid Tebboune chaired a Cabinet meeting on Sunday dedicated to major national development files, issuing a series of directives aimed at accelerating Algeria’s industrial and economic transformation.
At the top of the agenda was the National Strategy for the Development of the Petrochemical Industry for Raw Materials Production. President Tebboune told dzwatch that Algeria must urgently harness its vast resources to produce raw materials used in plastics manufacturing, significantly reducing costly imports.
The President ordered a doubling of efforts in the petrochemicals sector to build a fully integrated industrial fabric, leveraging Algeria’s world-class expertise in hydrocarbons. He stressed that Algeria’s ultimate goal is to become a leading global producer of these materials, with helium production at the forefront.
The Cabinet also reviewed the progress of livestock imports ahead of Eid Al-Adha, alongside updates on the Beled El-Haddba mining rail line project, the expansion of Annaba Port, and Algeria’s national water management strategy.
