PetroVietnam, a Vietnamese state-owned oil and gas company, is embarking on a strategic international expansion initiative, aiming to achieve double-digit growth and join the ranks of the world's top 500 enterprises by 2030. Information presented at a recent meeting indicated the group's robust financial performance, with an estimated total revenue of 734.7 trillion Vietnamese dong for the first half of 2026, representing a 49% increase, and consolidated revenue estimated at 445.4 trillion Vietnamese dong, a 39% increase.
As part of its development plan, PetroVietnam is focusing on strengthening its presence in the Middle East and Africa. The group has identified Algeria as a key target for business activities and cooperation, highlighting its potential for collaboration with state-owned oil and gas companies. PetroVietnam's President, Le Manh Cuong, emphasized the company's advantage as a state-owned enterprise in implementing government-to-government (G2G) cooperation models, which are conducive to fostering strong relationships in these regions.
PetroVietnam and its subsidiaries have already begun building relationships with major partners in the Middle East and Algeria, including national oil and gas companies and energy enterprises. Several affiliated companies are actively operating in the region, establishing their reputation and expanding their partner networks. The Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its overseas representative offices play a crucial role in facilitating these efforts, providing support for collaboration, market information, and assistance with legal and administrative matters.
Vietnamese ambassadors to countries in the Middle East and North Africa, including Algeria, affirm the significant potential for PetroVietnam to promote investment in the energy sector within this region. They recommend that PetroVietnam proactively engage with key partners and effectively utilize government-level cooperation channels to advance its projects. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is committed to enhancing cooperation with PetroVietnam to foster relations with Middle Eastern countries and integrate high-level diplomatic activities with the company's specific projects and contracts, thereby creating a favorable environment for effective project implementation in the region.
