23 Billion DA Funds Emergency Water Service Program

Algerian public authorities have allocated a financial package of 23 billion dinars (DA) for an emergency program designed to reinforce and improve the public water service across all wilayas of the country. This significant initiative was announced by the Ministry of Hydraulics following a working meeting chaired by Minister Lounès Bouzegza, attended by central administration executives and general directors of various sector institutions and bodies.

The program primarily aims to strengthen intervention and maintenance capacities while ensuring the permanent availability of hydraulic infrastructure. This includes the acquisition of various essential equipment, such as electromechanical materials, generators, hydraulic pumps, technical intervention and maintenance tools, pumping stations, and tank trucks. The objective is to enable a quicker response to incidents affecting hydraulic infrastructures and to maintain installations in continuous operational condition, thereby reducing intervention times and addressing citizen concerns more effectively.

During the meeting, Minister Bouzegza issued directives to accelerate the implementation of this new emergency program, stressing the importance of adhering to fixed deadlines and expediting the execution pace of planned operations. He also underscored the necessity of enhancing coordination among different services and entities to efficiently direct resources and equipment towards priority areas. This comprehensive approach is central to ensuring the continuity of public water service and bolstering hydraulic security throughout Algeria, with the citizen's well-being at the core of the sector's priorities.
