President Tebboune Patronizes Bejaia Resistance History Event

Minister of Mujahideen and Rights Holders, Abdelmalek Tacherift, recently oversaw the launch of an international conference in Bejaia. This significant event, titled «Culture of Resistance between History, Memory, and Imagination», is organized under the high patronage of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. Scheduled to run from August 18 to 20, 2026, the conference serves to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the historic Soummam Conference, which took place in 1956.

The conference provides a prominent research platform designed to illuminate the various dimensions of Algerian resistance and its lasting influence on collective memory and imagination. Esteemed researchers, academics, and specialists are participating in the proceedings, presenting scientific papers and personal testimonies that contribute to a deeper understanding of this pivotal period in Algerian history.

Upon his arrival, Minister Tacherift was received by several key officials, including Saeed Yahiaoui, the Secretary-General of Bejaia Governorate responsible for provincial affairs, and Si El Hachemi Assad, the Secretary-General of the High Commission for Amazighity, alongside other sector executives. The gathering underscores Algeria's commitment to preserving its national historical memory and reinforcing the culture of resistance.
