New Monitoring System to Enhance Algerian Road Safety

Minister of Interior, Local Communities, and Transport, Said Sayoud, chaired a coordination meeting on Tuesday evening in Algiers. The session was dedicated to reviewing and following up on the preparations for activating and utilizing a device designed to measure speed and driving time in heavy and passenger vehicles.

During the meeting, Minister Sayoud issued a series of directives aimed at accelerating the pace of preparations and completing the various technical and organizational procedures associated with the device's implementation. He also instructed the development of specific proposals and visions to ensure the effective embodiment of this system.

These proposals and initiatives are intended to bolster the effectiveness of the overall road safety system and contribute significantly to reducing speeding violations. This comprehensive approach is expected to play a crucial role in preventing traffic accidents, consistent with the provisions outlined in Article 85 of Law No. 26-09, dated May 12, 2026, which comprises the national Traffic Law.
