Food Industry Waste to Drive New Algerian Industries

A recent analysis proposes transforming food industry waste in Algeria into valuable raw materials, an initiative aimed at fostering sustainable development and expanding the nation's industrial base. This concept, put forth by Professor Abdelkader Berrich, a former Member of Parliament, seeks to repurpose what is currently considered a burden.
The proposed transformation is central to developing a circular economy within Algeria, where by-products from existing food processing operations would be utilized as inputs for entirely new industrial sectors. This strategic shift could reduce waste management challenges while simultaneously creating fresh economic opportunities.
By converting these industrial residues into productive assets, Algeria stands to gain a dual benefit of environmental sustainability and economic diversification. The initiative underscores a forward-thinking approach to resource management, contributing positively to national development goals.
