Minister Bouzguza Commands Readiness for Rainy Season, Social Entry

Minister of Water Resources, Lounas Bouzguza, chaired a working meeting at the ministry's headquarters on Thursday. The session brought together central administration officials and general directors of supervised institutions, with remote participation from water resource directors in Khenchela, Béchar, Tissemsilt, Mila, Batna, Oum El Bouaghi, Biskra, and El Kantara. The meeting was convened to follow up on the implementation of directives stemming from recent field visits, aiming to ensure readiness for seasonal transitions.

During the meeting, Minister Bouzguza issued several directives, including the immediate launch of a new emergency program dedicated to acquiring essential maintenance and intervention equipment. He also called for thorough preparation for the 2026-2027 social entry period, specifically ensuring that new educational institutions and training centers are adequately connected to water and sanitation networks. Furthermore, the Minister stressed the importance of taking proactive measures for flood prevention, requiring close coordination with various relevant services to mitigate risks.

Additional instructions focused on accelerating the completion of ongoing projects and bringing those recorded in the supplementary development program into service. Efforts are also to be directed towards improving sanitation services, combating the random discharge of wastewater, and ensuring its proper treatment at designated plants. The ministry noted a significant improvement in the drinking water supply across the concerned provinces, attributed to the proactive measures already implemented.

Minister Bouzguza underscored the necessity of maintaining the current pace of efforts, enhancing intervention speed, and improving performance efficiency within the sector. He advocated for establishing a culture of foresight and prioritizing initiatives based on actual needs. The Minister also highlighted the ongoing importance of expanding irrigated areas and optimizing the utilization of available water resources to further enhance national water security.
