Fifteen Italian Firms Explore Algerian Agricultural Sector

An Italian economic mission, featuring approximately 15 companies specialized in agricultural technology, is set to arrive in Algeria's capital on September 28 and 29, 2026. Organized by the Italian Foreign Trade Agency (ICE) in collaboration with FederUnacoma, an Italian organization representing agricultural machinery manufacturers, the mission aims to foster investment and commercial partnerships. This initiative underscores the growing interest of Italian enterprises in Algeria's market opportunities and its agricultural sector.
Discussions during the mission will focus on critical areas aligned with Algeria's agricultural modernization strategy. These include advanced agricultural mechanization, smart irrigation techniques vital for water efficiency, and the digitalization of farming operations. Additional targeted areas encompass nurseries, seedling production, and agricultural product storage, which are crucial for reducing waste and enhancing preservation. Italian companies are poised to present solutions and equipment adaptable to Algerian market needs, aiming to establish long-term trade relations and partnerships with local public and private entities.
The mission's agenda includes an opening workshop, direct business-to-business meetings between Italian and Algerian counterparts, and field visits to agricultural investments. These visits will allow the Italian delegation to observe farming activities firsthand and assess the specific needs of Algerian investors and producers. This specialized mission represents an extension of broader economic cooperation between Algeria and Italy, building on the Algerian-Italian Business Forum held in July 2025, with a clear objective to transition from general discussions to direct, needs-driven engagements that contribute to Algeria's agricultural development and food security goals.
