Algeria and the Sultanate of Oman have formally agreed to advance the expansion project for the Algerian-Omani Fertilizer Company (AOA) plant, located in the industrial zone of Arzew. This initiative marks a significant step, transitioning from extensive technical and commercial discussions held over the past year to the actual implementation phase. The agreement aims to increase the plant's overall production capacity by 50%, specifically targeting enhanced output of ammonia and urea.
The accord was reached during a reception hosted by Algeria's Minister of Hydrocarbons, Mohamed Arkab, for Sheikh Saad bin Suhail Bahwan, Chairman of Oman's Suhail Bahwan Holding group, along with Oman's Ambassador to Algeria. The CEO of Sonatrach, Noureddine Daoudi, was also in attendance. This collaborative effort between Sonatrach and the Omani group underscores the commitment to strengthening bilateral industrial cooperation.
The expansion project is designed to boost the added value of Algeria's national resources and further promote its processing industries. Minister Arkab affirmed the Hydrocarbons sector's full commitment to providing the necessary support and facilitating all procedures to accelerate the project's completion. The implementation of this strategic joint venture is set to proceed according to predetermined timelines, ensuring a swift transition to enhanced production capabilities.
