Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, denied any connection between Tehran and the recent operation launched by the Islamic Resistance Movement “Hamas” against Israel, known as Operation Aqsa Tempest. However, he praised the operation and welcomed what he described as the military and intelligence defeat inflicted on Israel.

In a televised address broadcasted by Iranian state TV, Khamenei referred to the Hamas attack as a devastating earthquake and stated, “We applaud the hands that planned the attack on the Zionist regime.”

Khamenei also addressed the recent rumors circulating for the past three days, falsely accusing Iran of involvement in the Hamas operation, labeling those who spread these rumors as supporters of the Zionist regime. However, he emphasized that they are mistaken.

The Supreme Leader reiterated Tehran’s support for Palestine and its commitment to defending the Palestinian people’s struggle. He called on the entire Muslim world to support the Palestinians.

Recently, a report published by The Wall Street Journal claimed that Iranian security officials assisted in planning Hamas’ unprecedented attack on Israel. However, the United States stated that it has no evidence suggesting Iranian involvement in the attack.

This statement by Ali Khamenei comes amidst heightened tensions in the Middle East following the Hamas operation, which saw a barrage of rockets fired from Gaza into Israel and Israeli airstrikes in response. The conflict has sparked international concern and calls for de-escalation.

In his address, Khamenei’s denial of direct Iranian involvement and support for Palestinian resistance aims to position Iran as a champion of the Palestinian cause while maintaining a degree of deniability regarding the Hamas operation. The situation remains complex, and regional dynamics continue to evolve, making it crucial for international actors to seek diplomatic solutions and prevent further escalation in the region.
