Algeria Commits to Elevating the Seventh Art: Minister of Culture Highlights Revival of Film Clubs

In a recent statement, Algerian Minister of Culture and Arts, Souria Moulouji, emphasized the government’s commitment to elevate cinema, known as the seventh art, to higher standards , Algerian Cinema Clubs.

This pledge is marked by the revival of film clubs and their role in spreading cinematic culture. Moulouji, presiding over a seminar titled “Algerian Cinema Clubs and Their Role in Spreading Cinematic Culture,” highlighted that this initiative stems from a directive by the President, focusing on advancing the country’s cinematographic industry while preserving its cultural identity and heritage.

Moulouji further stated that the Ministry’s supportive efforts will contribute significantly to the artistic renaissance aimed at encouraging local and international competition. She envisioned Algeria making a triumphant return to major film events with works that would be remembered in the annals of both Algerian and global art history.

The Minister revealed that the Ministry has devised a strategy to develop cinema by offering training, support, and guidance to artists, as outlined by Algerian cinema industry experts. She called upon those managing film clubs to coordinate their efforts in establishing a national network, with support from the Algerian Center for Cinematography, which will provide technical assistance and promote various cinematic initiatives.

This movement reflects Algeria’s dedication to fostering its film industry and cultural scene, aligning with the broader goal of enhancing its presence in the international artistic community.
