Algeria's Independent National Election Authority (ANIE) has officially prohibited the publication and broadcasting of opinion polls and voter intention surveys, effective immediately as part of the ongoing legislative election campaign. This crucial regulatory step aims to ensure a fair electoral process.
Algeria election polls ban
ANIE announced that, in accordance with Presidential Decree No. 26-145, dated April 4, 2026, which convenes the electorate for the election of members of the People's National Assembly on Thursday, July 2, 2026, and pursuant to Article 81 of Ordinance No. 21-01, dated March 10, 2021, relating to the amended and supplemented organic law on the electoral system, such publications are now forbidden.
The ban commenced on Saturday, June 27, 2026, for constituencies representing the national community residing abroad. For electoral districts within Algerian national territory, the prohibition will begin on Monday, June 29, 2026, and will remain in effect until the close of polling day on July 2, 2026. This measure underscores ANIE's commitment to maintaining transparency and preventing external influences on voter choices during the critical election period.
