President Tebboune Hosts Reception Honoring Senior Military Officials on Independence Day Anniversary

President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defence, chaired a reception ceremony this Sunday in honor of senior officials of the People’s National Army, including both active and retired officers, according to the Presidency of the Republic.
The ceremony was held at the National Army Club in Beni Messous, Algiers, as part of the official celebrations marking the 64th anniversary of Algeria’s Independence Day and the recovery of national sovereignty.
The event brought together a number of senior state officials, alongside high-ranking military figures, in a solemn atmosphere reflecting the importance of this national occasion. Independence Day remains one of the most symbolic dates in Algeria’s modern history, as it commemorates the end of colonial rule and the restoration of the country’s sovereignty after a long and difficult liberation struggle.
By hosting this reception, President Tebboune paid tribute to the role of the People’s National Army and to the generations of military officials who have served the nation. The presence of both active and retired army cadres also highlighted the continuity between those currently carrying out their duties and those who previously contributed to the defense and stability of the country.
The ceremony served as an opportunity to reaffirm the strong link between Algeria’s historical memory, its national institutions, and its commitment to preserving sovereignty. It also reflected the recognition given to the army’s role in protecting the country and supporting the values inherited from the glorious Liberation Revolution.
The 64th anniversary of Independence Day is being marked across Algeria through several official events and commemorative activities. These ceremonies aim to honor the sacrifices of the martyrs, preserve national memory, and remind younger generations of the price paid for freedom and independence.
Through this reception, the Presidency of the Republic underlined the significance of national unity, institutional loyalty, and the continued commitment to safeguarding Algeria’s independence and sovereignty.
The event at the National Army Club therefore formed part of a broader national commemoration, bringing together remembrance, recognition, and renewed attachment to the principles on which independent Algeria was founded.
