Skikda Hospital Offers Free Surgeries for Children

The Saâd Ghermoul Hospital in Skikda has initiated a solidarity medical program offering free surgical care for children with certain congenital malformations. This specialized pediatric surgery initiative targets cases identified from various Algerian provinces, enhancing medical care for children affected by conditions that impact essential functions, growth, and social integration. Specific conditions mentioned include cleft lip and palate.
Surgical operations are scheduled to take place from October 17 to 21, following necessary medical examinations and assessments to determine eligible cases. The hospital has called upon parents of affected children, both from Skikda and other provinces, to visit the external consultation department for pediatric surgery to undergo examinations and register. Reception appointments are set for every Sunday and Wednesday, starting at 1 PM, at the "Gardens" multi-service clinic, and every Sunday at the same time at the "Houmet Tolian" multi-service clinic in central Skikda.
This initiative provides a vital opportunity for free surgical intervention, aiming to improve children's health and functional well-being while boosting their psychological and social development, as well as that of their families. By accepting cases from outside Skikda, the program also expands access to specialized health services nationwide. The hospital has urged citizens, civil society organizations, media outlets, and social media platforms to disseminate information about this initiative, ensuring it reaches as many families as possible who have children with these congenital malformations.
The program underscores the humanitarian and social dimension of specialized health services, particularly for children. It highlights the importance of timely surgical intervention for conditions like cleft lip and palate, contributing significantly to enhancing life quality, fostering healthy growth, and promoting social integration for beneficiaries.
