Cnan Algeria Secures 100,000 Tonne Construction Material Transport to Mauritania

The Algerian National Shipping Company, Cnan Algeria, has entered into a cooperation agreement with the Mauritanian Arab Public Services Company for the transport of 100,000 tonnes of construction materials. This significant accord facilitates the shipment of these materials to Mauritania and adjacent African nations, marking a concrete step in fostering regional economic ties and expanding Algeria's export capabilities.
This agreement aligns with directives from Minister of Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, Saïd Sayoud. Its primary objectives include ensuring the regularity and sustainability of the Algerian-Mauritanian maritime line, thereby strengthening vital maritime connectivity between Algeria and broader African markets. Furthermore, the initiative is designed to bolster Algeria's foreign trade and enhance exports beyond the hydrocarbon sector, by improving maritime transport infrastructure and opening new trade routes for Algerian products across the African continent.
Looking ahead, the cooperation is anticipated to broaden its scope, potentially encompassing the export of Algerian food products through refrigerated containers. Such expansion would further solidify the presence of Algerian national products in African markets, concurrently creating new opportunities for Algerian economic operators. This comprehensive agreement is expected to significantly activate the maritime route between Algeria and Mauritania, reinforce national exports, and extend the Algerian maritime carrier's footprint within the African market.
