Algeria Elected Member of the UN Economic and Social Council

On Friday, Algeria was elected as a member of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) with 185 out of 190 votes for a term lasting three years, from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2027.

According to the Algerian Press Service (APS), this election took place during the UN General Assembly session in New York, marking Algeria’s eighth membership in this principal UN body.

This election reflects the trust Algeria enjoys within the United Nations and recognizes its capability to leverage expertise and commitment to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.

Guided by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s directives, Algeria’s diplomacy will aim to significantly contribute to shaping policy recommendations that will expedite the implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, working closely with other stakeholders in the Economic and Social Council.
