Washington, D.C., August 9, 2023 (WNA) – Algeria and the United States have expressed their support for the efforts of the Personal Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General, Mr. Staffan de Mistura. These efforts aim to enable the parties to the conflict in Western Sahara to engage seriously and without preconditions in the political process led by the United Nations.
This statement was issued by the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad following talks between the Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, and his American counterpart, Mr. Antony Blinken, today in Washington.
On another note, the two sides discussed regional developments and the Palestinian issue, according to the same source.
