Algeria’s Minister of Interior and Urban Planning, Ibrahim Merad, on Tuesday inaugurated four new governors in a move aimed at boosting local development.
The new governors were appointed by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune in a recent reshuffle of the country’s provincial administration. They are:
Mohamed Amine Bouguerra, the new governor of Touggourt
Mohamed Lamine Benslimane, the new governor of El-M’Ghair
Abdelkrim Bensalem, the new governor of M’Sila
Abdelkader Bouazghi, the new governor of Setif
Merad said the new governors are experienced and qualified individuals who are committed to improving the lives of the people in their respective provinces. He urged them to work closely with local authorities and civil society to develop their regions.
The appointments are seen as a positive step by the Algerian government to strengthen local governance and promote development. They come at a time when the country is facing a number of challenges, including high unemployment and poverty.
The new governors are expected to play a key role in addressing these challenges and improving the quality of life for Algerians.
