Air Algerie Announces New International Routes Including New York and Guangzhou

Air Algérie is set to launch new international flight routes, including those to New York and Guangzhou, as part of its strategy to expand its global network. Yacine Ben Suleiman, the CEO of Air Algérie, announced this development during a hearing with the National People’s Assembly’s Committee on Transport and Telecommunications, Air Algérie International Expansion.

Ben Suleiman outlined the airline’s ambitious expansion plan, which has already seen the opening of 16 new routes. These include flights to New York in the United States, Caracas in Venezuela, Havana in Cuba, as well as Amsterdam in the Netherlands, and London-Gatwick in the United Kingdom.

The expansion further extends to Asia with upcoming flights to Guangzhou in China, Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, and Hong Kong. In Africa, new routes will include Lagos in Nigeria, Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, Libreville in Gabon, Abuja in Nigeria, Douala in Cameroon, and Addis Ababa in Ethiopia. Additionally, the Johannesburg route in South Africa has already commenced operations.

Ben Suleiman also mentioned plans to increase the frequency of flights to several international destinations. This includes additional bi-weekly flights to Beirut, Dakar, Bamako, and Brussels, an extra flight to Frankfurt, Cairo, Lisbon, Doha, Niamey, Ouagadougou, and three additional flights to Dubai.

Among the projects highlighted in the session were the establishment of a cargo center, the launch of a handling subsidiary, digitalization, the use of new technologies, and the improvement of the company’s competitiveness through the development of the Algiers hub.
