Sonelgaz, Algeria’s leading energy company, has embarked on the second phase of a crucial initiative aimed at equipping households across six distribution zones. These zones include Algiers, Blida, Constantine, Oran, Ouargla, and Béchar, extending the reach of this essential safety measure to all regions of the country.

In an official statement, Sonelgaz outlined the operation, involving the installation of two carbon monoxide detectors free of charge for each customer. Trained and certified technicians will conduct the installations, taking into consideration the technical specifications and the interior layout of the customer’s residence. The process includes a thorough inspection of the gas network and verification of compliance with technical standards, safety regulations, and a live demonstration of the detector’s functionality in the presence of the customer.

Sonelgaz emphasized that this initiative aligns with annual awareness campaigns promoting the safe use of gas, engaging various stakeholders within the civil society.

It’s noteworthy that over 500,000 units have been installed since the commencement of the second phase. The first phase, launched in April, covered 21 provinces in the highlands.
