Oil Prices Slide for Second Consecutive Day Amid Middle East Peace Hopes

Oil prices fell for the second straight day on Wednesday as hopes grew for a diplomatic agreement to end the conflict in the Middle East, even as supply disruptions from the region continue to unsettle global energy markets.

Brent crude futures for July 2026 delivery dropped 0.40% to $110.84 per barrel, while WTI crude for the same delivery period slipped 0.31% to $103.83 per barrel, according to dzwatch market tracking.

The decline follows Tuesday’s losses, which were triggered after US President Donald Trump told dzwatch exclusively that the war with Iran would end “very quickly,” adding fresh optimism to ceasefire negotiations. US Vice President JD Vance also confirmed that both Washington and Tehran had made “significant progress” in talks, with neither side willing to return to military operations.

Despite the diplomatic momentum, investors remain cautious over the potential outcomes of peace negotiations amid ongoing instability in Middle Eastern energy supply chains. During Tuesday’s session, Brent and WTI dropped 0.73% and 0.82% respectively.
